Rick,

I have posted this again in case you don't see it under the old title ( 6943 selected securities ). In response to your answers as below I have the following questions :

======================

Hi Bird1

For reference, download stats for Friday 3rd May

ASX Stocks 3,966
ASX Indices 60
ASX ETO's 5,962

If you want less tickers you can, for example
1) Disable ETO's
2) Set up a portfolio download

Both can be performed using database wizard.
To disable ETO's, just click off the ETO box in Destination Database window.

For less equities, build a selected portfolio
1) Select options, Database Wizard (uncheck)
2) Select the ASX database
3) Select Portfolio
4) Select Ctry, AU, ASX, Equities
5) The top selection in the screen selects all.
Disable this and select the actual stocks you are after.

Regards
Rick

Rick,

After reading this post I'm thinking that the functionality that I'm waiting for in DataDirector 2 is already available to DD1.
I wish to exempt warrants from downloading which I understand DD2 should be able to do.
Am I correct in thinking that if I follow the instructions above in DD1, I could select all the stocks and options I want to download data for and leave all the warrants out. If I then delete all the warrants using StockDelete, then I presume they would not be recreated when I download my data every night.
If this is correct, then what else will DD2 do ( I suppose just make it easier to implement, ie just specify that I don't want warrents and it would understand ).
Also, I notice that there is a option under codes for downloading the latest set. I have never done this but I assume that since I have the whole lot of 'Equities' selected that maybe it downloads everything even if I do not have it listed ; is this correct ? Am I supposed to download the latest versions ?
If the above is correct, then I also assume that if I move to selected Equities only that I will not download any new stocks unless, I get to hear of them first, update my codes and then add them to the list. Please confirm this also.

Your answers will be appreciated.
Cheers,
RM

What you propose to do would work with the current version of DataDirector. However apart from being a bit of work, the main disadvantage of doing this is that any new listings of securities are not automatically added to your database. You would have to be aware of these and add them yourself. The same if a code changes, it would not come through automatically.

Download Latest will download the list of latest codes, however as per above, you would need to select any new listings.
