Article: Searching for Key Words
Just imagine you are watching the TV one evening. The news break
comes on and gets your attention, Today's Stock Market Report. The
presenter starts by giving you the days All Ords and then says "In
the latest news, ASX companies working on VACCINES stand to benefit
greatly from the overseas rush. In particular those companies with
revenues and good business models."
What do you do next? It would be great to work out who these
companies are, and, to see information helping you make a good
investment decision.
With the new Paritech MarketScan, its a simple process for anyone.
The first step is to create a new SEARCH, then add a 'wildcard'
criteria which allows you to look for key words in the companies
Business Summary. This is constructed by choosing Company Info,
selecting Business Summary , adding a = operator and adding the word
you wish to search for, i.e.
Business Summary = "*vaccine*"
Lastly, you want to determine which of these companies have good
business models, one which I will base on the companies Net Profit
Margin being greater than the Industries Average Net Profit Margin.
This is completed by selecting the Financials Field, choosing Net
Profit Margin, selecting the greater (>) operand and then choosing
the choosing Financials Field to end the search and selecting the
Industry Average Net Profit Margin, that is:
Net Profit Margin > Industry Average Net Profit Margin
Lastly, within the SORT BY function we will sort by Revenue.
Once completed, you can save the search for future reference and
RUN, the results of the search are then displayed. You can either
add numerous other fields, or you can display complete company
reports to further research your results.
The diagram below shows you the Search Criteria completed within
MarketScan.
