MetaStock
Using Favorites to Group Securities
In MetaStock, Favorites work much in the same way as they do in
Internet Explorer. Instead of being shortcuts to your favorite or
most commonly used websites, they are a list of shortcuts to your
favorite or commonly used securities.
In addition to this, if you are using MetaStock 8 or higher, you can
also run explorations on your favorites. This eliminates the need to
have custom folders.
There are two ways in which you can add a security to your favorites.
- In MetaStock, click File and then Open
- Locate the security that you want to add to your favorites.
Note that at this point in time we do not want to open it, so do
not double click it or open it.
- Right click on the security and from the menu choose Add to
Favorites.
- A window similar to the following will be shown:

You can either add the security to the main Favorites folder, or
you can create or use an existing sub-folder if you wish to
further organize your favorites.
- Click OK to confirm the addition.
The second way to add securities to your favorites is to open the
chart first and then right click. From the menu choose Add to
Favorites and follow steps 4 and 5 above.
Opening Favorites
To open securities from your favorites list, you just need to
click the Favorites icon that is shown in the left column of the
open window. You can then access any securities that you have added.
To scroll through your favorites, you can use the arrows that can be
found in the bottom right hand corner of the chart after you have
opened a chart from your favorites folder.
